Major General (Retired) Edward F. Dorman, III is a native of Cookeville, Tennessee, and a 1983 Distinguished Military Graduate of Tennessee Technical University, where he received his commission. Before his selection as the Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff, G-4 (Operations), he was the Army G-4 Director of Operations and Logistics Readiness, where he began working on retrograding equipment and personnel from Afghanistan. MG Dorman also served as the Military Assistant to the Commander of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), Director of the APPF Advisory Group, and the ISAF CJ-4. His other General Officer assignments include the Army’s 25th Chief of Transportation and Commandant of the Transportation School.

MG Dorman has commanded at all levels, from platoon through brigade, and served in staff assignments at the battalion through Army and Joint Staff levels. He served overseas tours in Germany and operational combat deployments, including: Commander, Logistics Task Force 530, Operation Enduring Freedom; Commander, Task Force Spear, JSOTF 20, Operation Iraqi Freedom; Sustainment Brigade Commander (Special Operations) (Airborne), Operation Enduring and Iraqi Freedom; and Assistant Chief ofStaff-CJ4, Multi-National Corps-Iraq, Camp Victory, Baghdad, Iraq; and G-4, XVII Airborne Corps, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

MG Dorman graduated from the Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Army Command and General Staff College, and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. He holds a Master of Language Arts in German Language and Literature from Middlebury College and the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany, and a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the National Defense University.

MG Dorman’s awards and decorations include: the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit with 2OLC, Bronze Star Medal with 2 OLC, Defense Meritorious Service Medal with 1 OLC, Meritorious Service Medal with 5 OLC, NATO Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Army Superior Unit Award, the Ranger Tab, the Expert infantryman Badge, the Master Parachutist Badge, the Air Assault Badge, and both the Army and Joint of Staff Identification Badges.
